Frequently Asked Questions About Private Caregiver Solutions

Private Caregiver Solutions offers a careful selection of live-in caregivers for clients to interview and ultimately hire privately. In addition, PCS provides guidance on effectively managing household employees before employment and advice on how to integrate the new live-in caregiver into your home on a long-term, mutually beneficial basis.

Someone with cognitive or physical limitations who needs daily supervision

A person who requires companionship and support during nighttime hours and a live-in caregiver who can ensure 24/7 presence while getting adequate rest (approximately 8 hours of sleep).

Someone in need of meal preparation assistance three times a day

A loved one who needs regular assistance with medication reminders

An individual at risk of slip and fall who requires aid with restroom visits and basic mobility.

A person who needs regular assistance with their IADLs (instrumental activities of daily living) and/or ADLs (activities of daily living).

An elderly or physically impaired member of the family who simply doesn’t want to be alone and could use the assistance of a caregiver in navigating their day.

To get started, contact PCS at 888-997-2345 to arrange an initial consultation with one of our live-in home care consultants. From there it’s usually not long before we can enter into an agreement and begin presenting highly skilled, thoroughly vetted live-in caregivers that have been sourced by our search coordinators for your consideration.

Live-in caregivers can provide quality care for your loved one and give you 24/7 peace of mind. They allow your family members to stay at home instead of moving to a care facility, which can ensure seamless and uninterrupted care from the comfort of the care recipient’s own home.

A live-in caregiver can assist in ensuring the safety and well-being of your loved one. Here are some of the services they can provide:

  • Bathing, dressing, and grooming
  • Companionship
  • Exercise
  • Meal preparation and medication reminders
  • Homemaking duties such as laundry, changing sheets, and light cleaning
  • Incontinence care and assistance with toileting
  • Basic pet care
  • Picking up the mail and taking out the garbage
  • Reporting changes in conditions to you and keeping you informed
  • Assistance with bedtime routine
  • Maintaining the care recipient’s schedule and appointment calendar
  • Escort for shopping and errands
  • 24/7 peace of mind

Hiring a live-in caregiver can provide peace of mind for you and your loved one, knowing that they are receiving the care and attention they need.

With a rigorous vetting process for experienced caregivers. At Private Caregiver Solutions, we take great care to ensure that our caregivers are highly qualified and trustworthy. To be considered for a position, each candidate must pass a rigorous interview process. Once selected, caregivers undergo a comprehensive screening process, including background checks, reference verifications, and confirmation of clean and valid licenses. In addition, we collect all necessary documents to confirm eligibility for working in the United States, as well as health-related documents. Finally, PCS can assist you with salary negotiation and the logistics of integrating your new employee into the home while protecting your assets and all that your family has worked for.

Our team can typically provide our clients with caregivers to interview within one week. However, if you require additional time or have a more challenging search, we will keep you informed throughout the process. If timing is a concern, please let us know. In case of an emergency and you need prompt assistance, please call us at 888-997-2345, and we’ll do our best to expedite the search.

Live-in caregivers are required to have a designated, private bedroom as well as 24/7 access to a suitable bathroom with a shower. While live-in  caregivers remain accessible for emergencies during the night,  they must be allocated 8 hours of sleep each evening. Caregivers need to be rested in order to care for your loved ones. If your loved one gets up frequently during the nighttime hours and is  in need of assistance; you may require some supplemental hourly care during these overnight “sleeping” hours.

In terms of meals, the family must provide essential food to their live-in employee as part of their compensation. Three square meals a day and/or the ingredients for such are expected to be provided by the family to the live-in aide. However, if caregivers have very specific requirements, we suggest that they provide and prepare their own specialized meals. Our aim is to create a communal experience when caregivers cook, where both the caregiver and your loved one can enjoy a meal together and foster a sense of family connection.

A couple’s live-in caregiver is typically employed to provide support with the daily needs of a couple. Frequently, one person in the couple reaches a stage where they require assistance while the other attempts to accommodate their needs but finds this challenging. For example, in the event of an Alzheimer’s diagnosis. Ultimately, a caregiver is employed to fill the family caregiver gap and offer care for both individuals.

Some tasks that a couple’s caregiver can assist with include personal care, managing medications, monitoring exercise and mobility needs, as well as helping with household chores such as meal preparation and laundry. Effective communication and coordination with the hired employee is key to ensure that all necessary tasks are completed

Discussing your new employee’s salary can be an uncomfortable topic and rates may vary somewhat based on geographical location. Private Caregiver Solutions can provide a range of comparable salaries in your area. One advantage of using PCS is that we can provide you with salary expectations of what live-in caregivers are looking for, based on experience. We are here to offer guidance and information. Please keep in mind, that all rates will ultimately be decided between employer and employee but we can help guide the negotiations by setting expectations, offering insight, and even presenting an offer for employment on your behalf to the private hire live-in caregiver.

We charge a one-time retained search & recruitment fee that is significantly less than traditional agency pricing and covers all services provided by our firm. Remember that we are not a direct care provider or home care agency, and all hiring decisions will ultimately be made by you and your family. Our unique “headhunter” model means that while we are not a home care agency, we are experts at seeking out the industry’s very best home health aides, caregivers, and experienced care providers that wish to enter into private one-on-one arrangements with families; and then matching them with your needs. Once potential candidates are identified, PCS will handle all introductions, facilitate the interview process, help with salary negotiation, go over the extensive detailed logistics of legalizing & legitimizing the relationship, and assistance in planning the move-in process. Our 60-day replacement guarantee ensures that if you are not entirely satisfied with your live-in employee, we will find a suitable replacement at no additional charge.

We’d be happy to set up a free consultation to discuss our service fee. Unlike staffing agencies with monthly fees, we charge a one-time search and recruitment fee. PCS handles all due diligence, including in-depth phone interviews, license and background checks, reference checks, I-9 verification, and written competency evaluations. This ensures you can safely employ a live-in caregiver for your loved one.
