Paying for Home Care

Private Out-of-Pocket

PCS was founded with a passion for providing high-quality live-in home health care services to seniors and individual’s with conditions requiring one-on-one care through private hire arrangements. The families we work with pay our one time consultation & recruitment retainer fee out of pocket and then usually make arrangements to pay their new private live-in on a weekly basis in the same manner.

Long Term Care Insurance

LTC Insurance is a private insurance that is designed to cover the costs of most in-home care. The exact coverage amount is determined by the specifics of your policy. If you require assistance in understanding your policy’s per day maximums and elimination periods; we are here to assist you. PCS can also provide you with the necessary forms to simplify the reimbursement process.

Veteran's Benefits

Many veterans are eligible for home care services. PCS can provide you with information on two programs available for veterans:

1. Aid & Attendance

2. Partnering with your local VA clinic/hospital to obtain benefits.

Employee Assisted Programs

A number of Fortune 500 companies and larger employers provide an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) that can help alleviate the expenses associated with most home care. Consider reaching out to your employer to see if such services are offered. PCS can assist you in knowing what to say and which questions to ask with regard to EAP programs.

Catastrophic Insurance

Catastrophic health insurance is a private pay insurance typically with low monthly premiums and high deductibles. They may be an affordable way to safeguard yourself against major, unforeseen medical expenses such as hospitalization or home care.

Life Insurance

A Long-Term Care Benefit can convert Life Insurance into monthly payments covering any form of senior care. Contact your insurance agent about converting your policy into an Irrevocable Benefit Account that makes monthly payments on behalf of the individual receiving senior care. Often this can be applied to home care services.

Medicare Advantage

Medicare Advantage can cover some limited non-medical home care services. Reach out to your social worker to find out if your plan includes homemaker or personal care services. This may be a way to provide respite for your live-in employee.

Reverse Mortgage

Homeowners can use the significant funds from a reverse mortgage to cover a broad range of expenses including home care, home modifications to enable aging in place, and even purchasing long-term care insurance. Using the equity in your home may be a sensible way to finance your families’ home care and allow a loved one to remain at home during their golden years.
